Fabricom’s Specialist Services were approached by the client and requested to put forward recommendations to reclaim three pump casings, more commonly known as “Ducks Feet”.  These had been badly eroded on the total surface area due to the effects of the sea water being pumped.  The original equipment manufacturer had quoted a delivery period of 6 months.

Fabricom Contracting Limited was able to affect a repair / refurbishment by shot-blasting the inside of the casings and removing the salt contamination by hot pressure washing.  The badly eroded areas were built up using Belzona Ceramic R Metal and coated with Belzona Ceramic S Metal, to provide a more abrasive resistant surface.  On the outside, a similar preparation method was applied and then an epoxy paint system applied.

The components were returned to the client within a period of 8 days with tremendous cost savings.
