As part of Corus’ ongoing investment at its Scunthorpe works a third Ladle Arc Furnace was constructed to increase capacity for producing specialised high quality steel by an extra 1.3M tonnes a year was given the go ahead at a total investment cost by of £12M.

Fabricom secured the contract for the execution of the mechanical construction works of the furnace and associated ancillary plants from the design management company VAI UK.
