SCOPE: Piping & Mechanical Construction

After the successful completion of the HAFCO Heathrow Terminal 5 project, Laing Utilities Ltd have recently awarded the contract for piping and mechanical construction works on the Langeled Receiving Facility at Easington, East Yorkshire, to FCL.

FCL’s responsibilities include the pre fabrication, installation and testing of pipe work & installation of mechanical equipment at the Easington receiving facility.

Construction of the Langeled pipeline will require one million tonnes of steel and affect most of the world's pipeline production and laying resources. Estimates for the UK part of the project, indicate that almost £100 million will be invested in the Easington area over a two year period.
