Fabricom Contracting were awarded separate contracts by Conoco for their proposed CHP Scheme. This consisted of the pre-assembly and site installation of 2 No. Auxiliary Boilers for steam generation. Each boiler weighing approximately 520 tonnes capable of producing 300 t/hr of steam at 102 bar from refinery off-gas, natural gas or distillate oil.
The boilers consisted of a top steam drum weighing 90 tonnes and a lower mud drum. Approximately 2000 tubes were inserted at each end into both drum walls forming the main steam generating bank. Also included within the scope were primary and secondary super-heater sections in P22 material and all roof, wall and floor panels were fabricated from finned tube sections, refractory lined on the interior and clad with insulation on the exterior.
Fabricom Contracting’s experienced workforce maintained excellent levels of safety and quality throughout the accelerated build programme. All work was subject to ASME code and pressure equipment directive certification together with third party audits to ensure CE marking requirements were achieved. Site installation also incorporated associated plant and equipment including flue ducting, economisers, feed water pumps and fuel gas skids.
